The pay check of a professional football is beyond the wildest dreams of most people, so it should come as no surprise then that their homes are as substantial as their pay packets. Here we take a look at some of the most expensive and luxurious footballer homes. These are homes fit for kings some of which are worth more than the average person will earn in their entire life!
In fact, footballer’s homes tend to be so expensive that when it comes to moving house footballers often struggle to find a buyer for their current home. It would appear that very few people have the kind of ready cash that is available to football’s elite. Apparently, a lot of footballers have turned to renting out their luxury homes for thousands, even tens of thousands of pounds per month.
So, let’s take a look at the properties that top footballers call home. Starting with a gigantic house in Oxshott belonging to Chelsea captain, John Terry:
- John Terry
Located in Oxshott, Surrey, the current home of John Terry is worth £4.35 million and previously belonged to professional golfer Colin Montgomerie. However, Terry actually downsized by purchasing this multi-million pound property. He previously resided in a nine bedroom mansion situated down the road from his latest acquisition. This property Terry sold for a whopping £16 million to Sultan bin Mohammed al-Naamani, who reportedly brought the home on behalf of Sultan Qaboos bin Said who is worth more than half-a-billion pounds.
Terry built the £16 million house while living in an adjacent property. He had planned to move into the gigantic, 9 bedroom mansion yet clearly decided to downsize and collect the considerable profits he must have made on the £16 million deal.
Terry’s new home features seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, four reception rooms and two staff annexes. It is conveniently located just a short drive from the Chelsea training ground in Cobham.
- Ricardo Kaka
Kaka brought a £6.5 million mansion situated in the Pozuelo de Alarcón part of La Finca. This is most exclusive area of the complex and is home to numerous football superstars alongside Kaka, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos. Kaka’s home was designed by legendary architect Joaquin Torres and includes six garages, an indoor pool and home gym.
Having moved back to AC Milan and either unwilling or unable to sell the property, Kaka currently rents his house to Welshman Gareth Bale for a stunning £10,000 a month. Not your average rent!
- Andres Iniesta
Andres Iniesta made the news last year after he decided to rent out his vineyard property in Castilla-La Mancha for £90 a night on Air BnB, clearly his multi-million pound salary from Barcelona wasn’t enough!
Along with the vineyard, Iniesta previously owned a £3 million mansion, however, he decided the house was haunted and put it up for sale…
- Wayne Rooney
Rooney lives in a £16 million mansion in the UK. On top of this he owns a home in Barbados that he recently put on the rental market. If you’ve got a spare £8,000 a week lying around you could enjoy the Rooney getaway home all to yourself!
- Didier Drogba
Drogba used his unbelievable salary to purchase a £14.5 million English castle. The property includes a home cinema, a swimming pool and a home gym. The house has eight bedrooms and is 8,500 sq ft.
